Elite Sports Club reclaims the Cayman Premier League trophy for the second consecutive year after defeating Bodden Town Football Club.

The finals match, held on 31 May at the Haig Bodden Complex in Bodden Town, saw Elite secure a 4-1 victory over the Bodden Town squad.

Goals for Elite were successfully executed by Christopher Reeves and Owen Ebanks, who both scored two goals to bring their team to victory.

Reflecting on the title defence, Elite’s team captain Wesley ‘Marceló’ Robinson expressed immense pride in his team’s growth throughout the season.

“I’m very proud of my team, this club and what we accomplished this season. Our goal was to only improve on the last season, and we did that,” Robinson said.

“[We went] from winning one to winning three out of four trophies available this season. We’ve tried our best to always stay in the moment and take the season [one] step at a time as it’s a marathon and not a sprint. We finished on top at the end of that marathon,” he added.

For left-back Anfernee Wright, the victory carried a profound sense of validation.

“This victory meant everything to me and the team [as] I knew we were doubted going into the start of the season even though we won the premier league last season. Everyone called it luck, but we were eager to prove our quality and to show everyone that we are the team to beat,” Wright said.

Wright credited the team’s “versatility and balance” as the main strengths that carried them throughout the season.

“We have several players on the team including myself who can play multiple positions on the field, and we have quality players even coming off the bench, but the biggest credit goes to the coaches and the staff for their tactics and working with us tirelessly through the season,” Wright said.

“They pushed us to be better and put very high expectations on our shoulders. I feel like we thrived and pushed through for the team, ourselves and the fans who all supported us,” he added.
