Sunset Football Club’s women capped off a dominant season on Sunday, 7 June, by capturing the Women’s FA Cup.
With a decisive 6-1 victory over Scholars ISC at the Timothy McField Stadium, the squad’s win solidified a total of four trophies to complete a clean sweep of the season’s titles.
Their successful campaign began last year on 28 Sept. 2025 with a 5-2 win against Scholars ISC to claim the Charity Shield.
Earlier this year, on 18 Feb., they defeated Fusion Sports Club 3-1 to claim the Women’s President Cup, followed by securing the Women’s Premier League title in May.
FA Cup final
The FA Cup final saw Ava Degrand score four of Sunset’s six goals. Degrand opened the scoring in the 24th minute and struck again in the 65th minute.
Scholars ISC claimed a goal through Susani Lucas in the 85th minute, but Degrand answered immediately with goals in the 86th and 90th minutes.
Jada Dixon-Lam in the 73rd minute and Yasmin Elliott in the 81st minute also found the back of the net to round out Sunset’s scoring.
Reflecting on the final whistle, Sunset coach Gisela ‘GG’ Gamba said that the emotion of securing the fourth trophy was one of deep accomplishment.

She added, “There was certainly a sense of relief when the final whistle blew, but because we had controlled much of the second half, the emotions were more about satisfaction and pride than pure excitement. It was a special moment to reflect on what the team had accomplished over the course of the year.”
Despite the win, Gamba said, “The first half was not great, as we were a bit static and predictable on our play, but after the half-time talk, we moved some players around.”
She noted, “Every player understood their role and contributed when called upon. We were able to adjust to different situations throughout the game, and having a strong bench allowed us to maintain a high level of performance regardless of the circumstances.”
The big four
Gamba said that winning all four trophies was a tremendous achievement and a reward for the hard work and dedication shown by everyone involved throughout the season.
“What set this team apart was the collective contribution of every player. Whether they were starters, goal scorers, substitutes, or players who trained regularly but did not always make the matchday squad, everyone played an important role in our success,” Gamba said.
To prevent complacency of her players throughout the season, Gamba admitted that “maintaining motivation was challenging at times”.
“This was particularly challenging because several matches were forfeited by opponents, resulting in long gaps between games. Those interruptions made it difficult to maintain momentum, however, our coaching staff and senior players helped keep the team focused on continuous improvement,” Gamba said.
“The players work together as a team while also serving as each other’s strongest competition. For example, Jada Dixon-Lam and Reese Bateson finished the season tied for the most goals across all competitions, and they continually pushed each other to improve and perform at a higher level,” she added.
Looking beyond the hardware, the Sunset coaching staff remains focused on the bigger picture for the club moving forward.
“Our primary objective has never been simply to win trophies, although achieving success is always rewarding. Our main goal is to develop players, build confidence, and help young women grow into balanced, healthy individuals who develop a lifelong love for football,” Gamba said.
