EY Cayman is delighted to announce Zion Bodden as the recipient of the 2024 EY Dan Scott Scholarship. The scholarship is valued up to US$30,000 per year until the recipient completes the minimum educational requirement to qualify for a professional license.
The award includes an eight- to ten-week summer internship and an offer of full-time employment at EY upon successful completion of the university program. Zion, who graduated from Cayman International School, will attend IE University in Spain to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Actuarial Sciences.
Zion’s academic achievements, leadership skills, dedication to community service, passion for finance and commitment to excellence impressed the scholarship committee.
Zion said: “I am immensely grateful to EY-first, for the many opportunities I’ve had as an actuarial intern on EY’s Business Consulting team, and now, for the generous scholarship award to help me access the education I need to build a career in this discipline. After obtaining my degrees, I intend to return to the Cayman Islands to be a productive worker and leader and give back to my community. Thank you, EY, for helping me pursue my dream.”
Baron Jacob, EY Cayman Assurance Partner and Regional Private Equity Leader, said: “We are proud to be able to support Zion, an outstanding student and a young man who is passionate about serving his community. With his energy, enthusiasm and courageous leadership, Zion embodies our values at EY.”
The EY Dan Scott Scholarship Program is named after Dan Scott, former EY Regional Managing Partner, who retired in June 2023 after a 40-year career with the firm. The scholarship was established to recognize and support exceptional students who demonstrate strong academic performance, leadership potential, and a commitment to making a positive impact in their communities.
Jeff Short, EY Cayman Country Managing Partner and Wealth & Asset Management Leader for the EY Region of the Bahamas, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands, said: “Our young people are our future. Our scholarship is an investment in the next generation of Caymanian leaders, supporting the education they need to realize their potential and shape the future with confidence. We are honored to help Zion pursue his goals.”
