Police and security staff quelled an outbreak of “anti-social” behaviour by young people at Camana Bay on Saturday night.
A spokesman for Camana Bay owner Dart said in a news release the company was aware of videos on social media that showed the disturbances.
Marvin Cox, the Dart vice-president, property management, said, “We would like to reassure the community that the safety of our Camana Bay tenants and those visiting the town centre is a top priority for us.”
He added that the normal security team was backed up by police officers on Saturday evening because of several scheduled events taking place, which helped to bring the problem under control. No injuries were reported.
Dart reminded that Camana Bay rules were clear that no one under 17 was allowed in the shopping and residential development after shops and the cinema closed.
Cox said: “We are once again appealing to parents to ensure that their children are not dropped off to roam unsupervised in the town centre.
“We have seen far too many instances where groupings of young people have disrupted the otherwise peaceful environment that we provide.”
He said the incident was still under investigation by police and that Dart would discuss what extra measures could be put in place to deter disruptive behaviour.
Dart said anyone who saw disruptive behaviour at Camana Bay should contact on-site members of the security team or police.
They can also call security at 640 HELP (4357).
The company added that criminal behaviour should be reported through the emergency 911 number.
The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service has been contacted for comment.
