Who really runs Cayman?

The influence of special interests vs. the power of the people.

For years, Caymanians have watched as big businesses, foreign investors, and special interests have shaped our economy, policies, and future – often at the expense of the people who call these islands home.

We must ask ourselves: who is really running Cayman? Is it the people, or is it those with money and influence?

It’s no secret that certain policies have favoured powerful interests while leaving hardworking Caymanians struggling. Housing prices have skyrocketed, job opportunities are shrinking, and environmental protections are being ignored – all because past governments have prioritised special interests over the Caymanian people.

How special interests control Cayman

Too often, political decisions benefit a privileged few rather than the wider public. Here’s how:

  • Unfair immigration & work permit practices – Some businesses continue to abuse the system, using work permit loopholes to deny qualified Caymanians opportunities. Instead of investing in local talent, they hire foreign workers at lower wages, maximising profits at the expense of Caymanian workers.
  • Skyrocketing housing costs – Real estate speculation by wealthy investors has made it nearly impossible for young Caymanians to afford homes. Meanwhile, successive governments have done little to regulate foreign property ownership or prioritise first-time local buyers.
  • Overdevelopment at the expense of the environment – Special interests have pushed for rapid, unchecked development that threatens our beaches, mangroves, and marine life. Despite public opposition, projects that benefit only a wealthy few continue to be approved.

Taking back control: The power of the people

It doesn’t have to be this way. Caymanians still have the power to change the system – but only if we elect leaders who are committed to putting people first.

The Cayman Islands National Party (CINP) is dedicated to:

  • Ending work permit abuse – CINP will hold employers accountable and ensure fair hiring practices so that Caymanians are always given first priority in the job market.
  • Making housing affordable for locals – CINP will implement policies that limit excessive foreign speculation, expand first-time buyer programmes, and create pathways for young Caymanians to own homes.
  • Protecting Cayman’s natural resources – CINP will ensure that development is responsible, sustainable, and benefits Caymanians – not just wealthy investors.

The 2025 election: A turning point

This election is about who really has the power in Cayman – wealthy elites, or the people? If Caymanians want to take back control of their jobs, homes, and future, they must elect a government that serves them, not special interests.

That government is the Cayman Islands National Party. It’s time to choose leadership that puts Caymanian citizens first – always.

Vote for the Cayman Islands National Party.
