Rolston Anglin, Cayman’s minister for education and training, conducted an official visit to Cayman Brac in early June to tour two key educational sites: the construction site of the new Cayman Brac high school and the existing Layman E. Scott High School.
Anglin was accompanied by Cabinet Ministers Nickolas DaCosta and Jay Ebanks, as well as several other government ministry and Department of Education officials.
The visit formed part of the ministers’ early efforts to familiarise themselves with major government facilities and ongoing projects across the Sister Islands. While the new Cayman Brac high school project was initiated under a previous administration, the visit provided an opportunity for the newly appointed ministers to view the current state of progress and begin discussions on next steps regarding capital budget planning and oversight.
In addition to the site visit at the future Cayman Brac high school, the delegation also made a purposeful stop at the current Layman E. Scott High School. The walkthrough served as a chance to connect with the school leaders and gain a clearer understanding of the current teaching and learning environment.
As part of his early review of key initiatives, Anglin noted that seeing the site in person was an essential step in understanding the scope and status of the project. “This visit provided an important opportunity to see the project firsthand and begin gaining a clearer understanding of where things stand,” he said. “It’s early days, but this kind of engagement is essential as we begin reviewing ongoing initiatives and considering next steps.”
Further visits to additional education facilities in Cayman Brac are expected in the coming weeks as the Ministry of Education and Training continues to engage directly with schools and public service partners across the Islands.
