Police have launched a search for a man who stabbed another man outside George Town’s courthouse following a fight at a Pirates Week event over the past weekend.
The suspect, who stabbed the victim in the chest, fled the scene before police arrived. Police conducted a search but have so far failed to track him down.
Police said the incident happened after a fight broke out between two men in the open area outside the Edward Street courts building at about 10pm on Saturday, 15 Nov.
A police spokesperson added that the victim left the scene in a private car that was met by an ambulance, which took him to hospital.
He was treated overnight for serious but non-life-threatening injuries and self-discharged the next day.
Police said the attacker was tall, dark-skinned and wearing black clothes.
The police spokesperson said the area was busy at the time and appealed for witnesses to come forward.
