An article in the Cayman Compass about adventurer Martyn Bould’s fundraising efforts for the Cayman Islands Red Cross has led to a US$10,000 donation to add to the total raised.
Cayman Islands Roofing Ltd made the generous donation after project manager Randy Turner read about Bould’s epic climbs for charity which Bould has written about in his recently-published autobiography, ‘More Than Just The Climb’.
Climbed Mount Fuji
Bould, who has already conquered Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro and Argentina’s Aconcagua, set his sights on the iconic Japanese peak and embarked on an intensive training regime to prepare for the 12,388-foot ascent.

Speaking at a party to celebrate the 80th birthdays of Bould and his wife Vivian and their wedding anniversary, Bould said he was “delighted” to have received the call from Cayman Islands Roofing “out of the blue” and that it had taken the total raised so far to around $40,000.
Bould, who is currently skiing in Utah, is already planning his next adventure – a climb of Cotopaxi in Ecuador, one of the world’s highest volcanoes at 19,347 feet – as long as Vivian approves.

People can support Bould’s Climb for Red fundraising campaign by donating to the Cayman Islands Red Cross. Contributions will go toward ongoing programmes such as disaster relief, first aid training, child protection, support for seniors and emergency shelter operations.
Over the years, Bould has been in many parts of Cayman life, including the construction of the Harquail Theatre and the current home of the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands, bringing squash to the Cayman Islands and helping raise funds to preserve Miss Lassie’s house, one of Cayman’s oldest structures.
