Cayman Airways is expanding its US network with new seasonal nonstop service between Grand Cayman and Austin, Texas, starting in May.

In a press release, Cayman Airways said Austin is the latest addition to its growing portfolio of US destinations, supporting the airline’s mandate to enhance connectivity and stimulate tourism and economic development for the Cayman Islands.

Tourism Minister Gary Rutty explained, “Austin is a fast-growing market, and introducing direct connectivity allows us to convert proven interest into actual arrivals. I look forward to this route strengthening the Cayman Islands presence in the U.S.A and delivering real benefits for our tourism economy.”

Paul Tibbetts, executive vice president for Commercial Affairs and chief financial officer for Cayman Airways, added, “Data analysis conducted in collaboration with the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism identified Austin as one of the largest unserved US markets for Cayman travel with particularly strong demand during the summer period.”

Tibbetts said, “The route will also eliminate the need for one or more connections through major US hubs, providing greater convenience and travel time savings for passengers.”

Director of Tourism Rosa Harris congratulated Cayman Airways on the new service, adding, “This route plays an important role in our tourism strategy as it increases connectivity from Texas, one of our top source markets in the United States.”

Subject to regulatory approval, the new summer route will start on 24 May and run through 16 Aug. Cayman Airways said the service will operate weekly, on Sundays, offering travellers in central Texas convenient, nonstop option to experience the Cayman Islands.

Tickets will be available for purchase from 30 Jan. on www.caymanairways.com.

Cayman Airways’ nonstop flight to Austin, Texas, is the latest expansion in Cayman’s growing roster of direct routes to the US. In December 2025, JetBlue and Spirit Airlines both started seasonal nonstop flights from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Grand Cayman, and Delta Airlines began directly flight to New York and Detroit the same month. In addition, Porter Airlines commenced seasonal direct flights to Toronto and Ottawa in December.
