Sunset Football Club capped off their girls Under-17 FA Cup campaign in dominant style by capturing the trophy with a 14-0 victory over Academy Sports Club.
Sunset Legacy, the under-17 girls’ squad of Sunset Football Club, claimed the victory on 28 May at the CIFA Centre for Excellence field.
Reese Bateson and Jada Dixon-Lam led the scoresheet with five goals each, while Tessa Clark, Ana Curnock, Stephanie Richards, and Kaija Danter each added a goal to seal the 14-0 result.
For the coaching team of Gisela ‘GG’ Gamba, player-coach Cayden Coles, and Tony De Quintal, the victory is a “sweet reward … for a lot of hard work undertaken for 10 months of the year”.
“The resilience and determination of the team to be united in their objectives resulted in us showing strong character to win important matches, even when faced with noisy distractions. And they did this whilst playing the game in the right spirit, showing exemplary sportsmanship, which is the core of our ethos,” the coaching team said.

“As a coaching unit, we obviously seek to build their football skills, knowledge and love for the game, but we always aim to ensure that our approach builds the self-esteem and confidence of the players through positive development and reinforcement,” they added.
It is a set of life skills the coaches are confident will “be very beneficial to them in all aspects of their lives as they go out into the world.”
