A delegation of 30 Cayman golfers competed in the 30th Annual Caribbean Golf Classic, held at Casa de Campo Resort in the Dominican Republic.

The Cayman competitors joined a field of 155 players representing 10 different nations in one of the region’s premier amateur golf tournaments across three acclaimed courses: Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, and The Links.

The highlight of the event for the Cayman squad was the female team who were crowned champion of the women’s division for the second consecutive year.

“The 14-member team accepted the championship trophy following a week of consistently strong performances, reinforcing the breadth of women’s golf in the Cayman Islands,” said the Cayman Islands Golf Association in a press release.

Cayman players also shined individually, winning prizes and earning critical points for the team standings by placing well in their respective handicap-based flights.

Paul Njoka fought his way to a tie for third place in his flight, while Rocio Essau secured a fourth-place finish in her flight and Reagan Cairns rounded out the top individual finishes with a tie for fifth in her flight.

“The golfers return home proud of these achievements and are already looking forward to defending the women’s title next year,” the association said.
