The government will no longer house adult and child patients at the public hospital's mental health following a report of gross indecency towards a young female patient.

A hospital pharmacy closed down in April after equipment used to extract fumes from the manufacture of chemotherapy medicines was found be not connected to the ventilation system reopened on Wednesday. The Health Services Authority added it had also moved the preparation of the medicines to the George Town Hospital's chemotherapy department "designated cleanroom" for safety reasons, although tests had shown there was no "hazardous contamination" detected in the pharmacy.

Hospital staff are being asked if they have suffered any ill effects after the potential leak of fumes caused by the preparation of chemotherapy treatments.

George Town Hospital has been renamed Anthony S. Eden Hospital after the former minster of health who served from 1994-2000 and 2005-2009.
