In the Nov. 23, 1966 edition of the Caymanian Weekly, a precursor of the Cayman Compass, news from George Town included: “A large number of well-wishers gathered outside the new Thompson Building, opposite the Post Office in the centre of George Town, at 9:15 a.m. on Friday last for the opening of this fine structure … "

50 years ago: Celebrity author Robin Moore stops in

In the Oct. 19, 1966 edition of the Caymanian Weekly, a precursor of the Cayman Compass, Cayman Brac news included: “Mr. Robin Moore, author of America’s No. 1 best-seller, ‘The Green Berets,’ and also the hit song of the same name, who is also an executive of the Sheraton hotel chain, landed in Cayman Brac on Tuesday, the 11th by private aircraft."
