The deadline for people to register local mariners and others involved in Cayman's maritime heritage has been extended.

If you knew of a seafarer, or were a seafarer, then Celebrate Cayman is inviting you to add to the list of names of local mariners in the National Seafarers Registry, which is set to become a "living" online commemoration of the islands' sailors.

Dozens of people gathered in the vicinity of Hog Sty Bay along the waterfront in George Town on Friday, 25 June, to celebrate International Seamen’s Day as Harbour Drive was renamed Seafarers Way.

Circulation of a new commemorative Cayman Islands $1 note is set to begin this week.

Organisations and individuals are preparing to take part in next weekend’s Celebrate Cayman 60 Acts of Service.
