New government regulations to keep churches on the right side of the law have been welcomed by the pastor of a popular church in Cayman.

Although this year’s Good Friday was marked by empty pews, hidden behind closed church doors, Cayman’s Christian community were still able to come together to the religious holiday, thanks to help from modern technology.   

West Bay’s Boatswain Bay Presbyterian Church marked the launch of Honouring Women Month with a special church service this past weekend. At the service, featuring prayer and worship in song, held on Sunday, March 5, each woman present received a gift in a purple theme.

Inside the Lions Centre on Sunday, thousands of residents rallied for the preservation of traditional “family values.” The huge gathering, impressive by any measure, was testimony to the fact that the collective character of the Caymanian people is rooted deeply in conservative religious values and beliefs.

Church leaders revealed plans Wednesday for a campaign in support of “traditional values” against the backdrop of an ongoing debate over rights for same-sex couples in long-term relationships in the Cayman Islands.

A number of churches around Grand Cayman have reported individuals conducting fraudulent fundraisers supposedly on behalf of congregations in George Town and West Bay in recent weeks.
