The National Conservation Council has approved updated procedures for managing feral cats in environmentally sensitive areas of Grand Cayman.

A cull of feral cats on Little Cayman resumed this month after government and local animal charities came to an agreement almost four years after a plan to control the island's cat population was stalled, due to a legal challenge brought by the charities to stop the animals being killed.

A cat had to be rescued by volunteers after getting its head stuck in a plastic bottle. The feral cat was unable to eat or drink because of the position of the bottle, according to Heather Penzhorn of Feline Friends.
