Hurricane Lee – which poses no threat to the Cayman Islands – has dropped in intensity to a Category 2 storm after briefly peaking at Category 5 on Friday, 8 Sept., and again on Saturday.

Hurricane Lee has increased in strength to become a Category 4 storm as it continues to barrel west across the Atlantic, according to the latest update from the National Hurricane Center.

Local and regional forecasters continue to warn that Hurricane Lee, which is now a major Category 3 storm, is likely to strengthen to Category 5 within the next few days as it continues on a path just north of the Leeward Islands.
