Miss Lassie, Aunt Julia to get special headstone markers
Two “national treasures” of the Cayman Islands, Gladwyn “Miss Lassie” Bush and “Aunt” Julia Hydes, will be recognized with specially crafted headstones to mark their graves. Premier Alden McLaughlin, as Cayman’s culture minister, handed over a $24,000 check for the headstones to the Cayman National Cultural Foundation.
Cayfest 2016: Artistic delights
Two decades since the beginning of Cayfest, the National Festival of the Arts promises to highlight everything the public loves about the local arts scene. Evolved from a lineup of past events like Chalk Fest, Music Unplugged, Dance Vibes and Café Cayman, an integrative festival over the course of three days has emerged, and for the first time features local and international Grammy award-winning talent.
