Poinciana Festival hands out awards

The inaugural Poinciana Festival on Jan. 27-31 ended with a Gala Awards Ceremony at the Harquail Theater.

Thirty Poinciana Award winners were recognized, and the late Miss Julia Hydes was presented with the Poinciana Lifetime Achievement Award, which was accepted by her grandson Junior Hydes.

Jason Felts, CEO of Virgin Produced, was one of the award presenters. “Virgin and Poinciana share a passion for music and film, and the festival weekend showcases local talent in both, plus the visual and performing arts.

“It has great potential to become a fixture on the calendar for residents and visitors,” he said.
