Cayman Islands athletes joined together to support Black Lives Matter following George Floyd's death.

Brett Fraser and Lauren Hew are only halfway through their summer of top-flight competition.

Cayman is poised to take its place in the starting blocks on a world stage. Four swimmers – veterans Lauren Hew and Brett Fraser and newcomers Jordan Crooks and Raya Embury-Brown – will comprise Cayman’s team at the 18th annual FINA Swimming World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea.

Cayman’s best swimmers were honored late last month at the annual Cayman Islands Aquatic Sports Association Awards gala brunch at The Grand Old House.

Seventeen-year-old Lauren Hew represented the Cayman Islands in the pool at the FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary from July 14-30, competing with some of the best swimmers from 182 countries.

The athletes won six gold medals in athletics and one in basketball; four silver medals in athletics, four in shooting and two in swimming; as well as two bronze medals in athletics, two in shooting and four in swimming.
