Miss Cayman off to Miss Universe pageant
Miss Cayman Monyque Brooks was scheduled to leave for the Philippines on Monday, Jan. 9 for the Miss Universe pageant, where she promises to give “the entire universe” a taste of Caymankind. The pageant will be held on Sunday, Jan. 29, at the Mall of Asia in Pasay, Philippines.
Miss Cayman heads to Miss World contest
Miss Cayman Monyque Brooks departed Sunday on her way to Washington, D.C., to take part in the 66th annual Miss World pageant, scheduled for Dec. 20. Before arriving in the U.S. capital, Ms. Brooks will shop and receive pageantry training in Miami with Anastagia Pierre Friel, at her coaching organization.
Miss Cayman age limit raised to 27
After lowering the upper age to enter Miss Cayman Islands last year to 25, the pageant’s organizing committee has now re-set the upper limit to age 27. The limit had dropped to the younger age in 2016 after last year’s winner, Tonie Chisholm, was ineligible to enter the Miss World pageant because she was over 25.
