On Monday, Queen Elizabeth II marks her Sapphire Jubilee, becoming the first British monarch to reign for 65 years. The queen’s Sapphire Jubilee was marked Monday with a 41-gun salute by World War I-era field guns in London’s Green Park, and another 62-round gun salute at the Tower of London.

The Cayman Islands has paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II’s long reign in a two-page spread in a commemorative publication of “Queen & Commonwealth: 90 Glorious Years.”

Hats were optional but plenty were seen at the garden party in Cayman to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s official 90th birthday over the holiday weekend.

This weekend, George Town will be the venue for a uniformed parade in celebration of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday.

While Monday’s public holiday is designated to mark the official birthday of 90-year-old Queen Elizabeth II, celebrations in Cayman, which include a parade and a garden party, will be held on Saturday.

The official celebrations of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday here in the Cayman Islands will take place on Saturday June 11, with Monday June 13 being a public holiday to mark the event.
