The Cayman Compass remembers some of Cayman's prominent and beloved figures who passed away this year.

Our Dad, Ron Kipp loved the Cayman Islands. He said the people were unlike any other people in the world in terms of kindness, hospitality and genuine smiles.

Widely regarded as one of the pioneers who placed Cayman Islands diving on the map, Mr. Ronald (Ron) L. Kipp was a true visionary and his story, like our waters, is one of a kind.

Ron Kipp, one of the biggest promoters of Cayman Islands diving over the years, has died. He was 79.

Nominations are open to consider local honorees for this year’s International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame, managed by the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism.
