If anyone felt a disturbance in the force, it may have coincided with the arrival of Spencer Wilding in Cayman. The 6-foot, 7-inch-tall actor, the man behind the mask in the latest Star Wars movie, is more familiar to audiences around the world as Darth Vader.

If there was any question about the longevity of the “Star Wars” series, one merely has to turn one’s attention to the buzz on the internet, where outlets are reporting huge advance ticket sales for the latest installment: “Rogue One.”

Movie makers and celebrities will flock to Cayman’s film festival in future years, according to some of the stars of this year’s event.

Star Wars fans were treated to some of the behind-the-scenes stories of the making of the iconic movie trilogy at the Cayman Islands International Film Festival Monday.

Highlights of the CayFilm festival over the weekend included workshops with movie professionals who have worked on some of the most famous films of all time, including “Star Wars,” “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “The Shining."

The creator of some of the most iconic sounds in film – from the raspy breathing of Darth Vader to the beeps and boops of R2-D2 – will be among the movie industry experts at the Cayman International Film Festival over the July 4 weekend.
