A Cayman tradition is spending time with family on holidays and weekends at the Seven Mile Public beach, cruise ship visitors alike enjoy a quick trip to soak up the rays for a few hours as they visit our island gem. Since the devastation of Hurricane Ivan Seven Mile Public Beach has lost its beach cabanas and the two remaining were removed last week in the interest of public safety. The Leo Club of Grand Cayman is the official sponsor for public beach and has tremendous plans for the reconstruction in 2005 but for right now the membership is trying to get the beach in a safe condition. There are still three very large mounds of sand that will be removed by Cayman Islands Government however we urge the public to exercise caution while on the beach especially with young children playing in the sand. The Leo Club of Grand Cayman is working hard to get the beach levelled and cleaned up for the holidays. Leo Club would like to ask the public when on the beach please use the trash receptacles provided to avoid additional littering. We need additional helping hands as well; if you would like to signup to assist in our cleanup please do contact us on 916.8292.
