‘Ivan’ songs, poem contribute $ 5,000

Barefoot Man’s popular calypso ‘Ivan’ and his Christmas song ‘My 2004 Christmas List’ were a sell out over the holidays.

On the same CD a poem titled ‘Ivan Come to Cayman 2004’, by Radio Cayman’s Susan Watson, was also featured.

Susan, a native of Cayman Brac has been with Radio Cayman for 14 years and says she rises every morning at 4.30 to be at the station by 5.30 where she hosts ‘Susan in the Morning’ on Radio Cayman’s Breakfast Session.

On Saturday night she also hosts the popular Caribbean Riddims show from 7 until 10.

In a recent interview, Susan said ‘My home received relatively minor damage from Hurricane Ivan, so I felt the needed to give something back to the people who lost so much. After a talk with God the poem miraculously happened.

George (Barefoot) Nowak invited Susan to contribute her popular poem to his CD project, which was released in early December.

The entire stock was sold out in three weeks and recently Barefoot delivered a CI$5,000 check to the National Recovery Fund office on the behalf of Susan Watson and his local record company Barefoot Records.

The CD sold in local shops as well as on Barefoot’s web site www.barefootman.com where fans from around the world ordered their copies. The Barefoot Man along with Chuck Quappe performs live at the Reef Resort every Tuesday and Thursday Night.
