Do not fret, Rundown soon come, says The Cayman National Cultural Foundation.
There aren’t many of us who couldn’t do with a laugh at the moment, as we struggle to achieve some normalcy through these difficult times.
Mr. Dave Martins, author of the hit comedy revue Rundown and co-producer along with the CNCF of Rundown, and director Mr. Henry Muttoo, do not plan on letting us down. Rehearsals are under way to bring us another hilarious look at a year in Cayman.
Both Mr. Martins and Mr. Muttoo are apparently not alone in their belief that there is a lot to be said for some ‘light relief’ that makes the journey to recovery bearable.
‘People have been anxiously asking whether we’re putting on Rundown this year. They’ve been concerned because they know of the hurricane damage to the Harquail Theatre. It will be a challenge, but we are working on a couple of venue options,’ promises Mr. Muttoo. All are well aware of the tragedy befallen on our Island with the arrival of Hurricane Ivan in September, however, they note that it is the comedic resilience of our people, and others facing similar ordeals, that makes the journey to recovery bearable. There is a lot to be said for some ‘light relief’. It is hopeful that nearly all of the usual cast have signed on to perform will once again. ‘And of course,’ adds Martins, ‘everyone wants to contribute ideas for the script.’
Opening night will be on Friday, 25 February and it will run every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, until 13 March. Details on venue and confirmed times will appear in local advertising nearer the date.
