Two private ophthalmologists are filling in at the Cayman Islands Hospital’s eye clinic following the departure of Dr. Eugene Foley last week.
Dr. Krishna Mani and Dr. Waite Kirkconnell, who has a private practice on Cayman Brac, are each putting in two days a week at the clinic, which has been temporarily transferred to the Specialist Clinic.
It’s meant an extra workload in Dr. Mani’s already busy practice ‘but in a small place like this you have to help out,’ he said.
Government’s Health Services Authority declined comment on Dr. Foley’s departure.
Dr. Mani is the island’s sole ophthalmologist, although there are several visiting specialists including Dr. Douglas Van Putten.
