New lawyer joins Truman Bodden Co.

Commercial lawyer Louise MacDougall was admitted as an attorney in the Grand Court 25 February by Mr. Justice Dale Sanderson Q.C. on the application of Truman Bodden & Company, Attorneys-at-Law.

Ms MacDougall was introduced to the Court by Mr. Philip Boni Esq., Director and Head of Litigation at Truman Bodden & Company. Ms MacDougall has already been admitted as a solicitor by the Council of the Law Society of Scotland, states a press release.

She holds a postgraduate diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Edinburgh and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Dundee. Ms MacDougall is also a Notary Public in Scotland. Louise’s early career was spent in the Scottish Borders working in general law practice gaining a wide experience in private client, property and corporate/commercial work. In 1999 she joined one of Scotland’s leading commercial law firms Brodies LLP in Edinburgh to focus on property law. Louise has a broad and thorough knowledge of all aspects of property law with a keen interest in development work having worked closely with a number of developers of both commercial and residential sites over the years from set up, financing and acquisition through to disposal/letting of individual properties. She has also had vast exposure to acting for high net worth individuals, trusts and companies who use property as a form of investment, many of whom structured their property holdings using off shore companies, as well as acting for major banks and other finance providers when lending to property investors.

Mr. Boni noted that Ms MacDougall will take a role within the Corporate/Commercial practice of Truman Bodden & Company where it is intended she will be able to fully utilize her broad experience and technical knowledge of property law and add much needed assistance in the already busy Conveyancing department. Ms MacDougall, when invited to address the Court, said that she was grateful for the privilege of being admitted in Grand Cayman and looked forward to practicing on the Island. In welcoming Ms MacDougall to the Cayman Islands Bar, the Hon Mr. Justice Dale Sanderson Q.C. indicated that he was sure that Ms MacDougall’s ‘hardy’ Scottish determination would benefit these Islands and wished her every success in her legal career.
