Caymanians interested in postgraduate study in Britain have until March 21 to apply for a prestigious Chevening Scholarship Award.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office programme offers funding to outstanding graduates for study at any British university. As the programme is intended for future leaders and decision-makers, successful applicants must demonstrate this level of potential.
There is usually strong competition for the limited number of scholarships that are offered each year. Awards are normally for one-year masters’ programmes, but may also be considered for other courses of a minimum three months’ duration.
Over the past 10 years, some 17 Caymanians have received Chevening scholarships for postgraduate study in Britain. The programme is administered locally by the Governor’s Office and the Education Council.
Interested persons may obtain forms from the Governor’s Office in the Government Administration Building, or by calling 244-2425. Forms also may be obtained from the Education Council secretary at the Department of Employment Relations (located in Royal Plaza), or by calling 945-3114. Forms must be returned to the Governor’s Office or the Department of Employment Relations prior to the 21 March deadline.
