The CIFA Foster’s National League is down to crunch time. Eight weeks have passed and four teams have strategically fought their way into the final four.
Zone A’s Scholars International and George Town SC, first and second respectively, will move on while Western Union and Latinos FC, winners and runners up from Zone B will join them.
In an electrifying twist of fate, last year’s final two – Scholars and Latinos FC have been scheduled to battle it out this year in the semi-final round. Only one team can move on, so for sure after the semis one of the two will be licking their wounds, forced to wait until the 2005-06 season to get back on the wagon.
George Town is set to play formidable opponents Western Union who have played five matches in their zone and lost none. George Town, who played six, won four and drew two. Though both missed the finals by the proverbial inch last season they are not to be written off as underdogs. Both teams have been burning up the field with action over the last eight weeks and are poised for an upset. Western Union in particular has come very close but fallen short for the last two seasons. For them this is a long awaited opportunity and one that they will pull out all the stops not to waste.
Fans will be forced however, to wait for destiny to play out on the fields as the final four matches are not scheduled to kickoff until Saturday April 30th. During the break the CIFA FA Cup Tournament will commence, keeping the teams busy in the interim.
The CIFA Foster’s National League final is scheduled for Sunday May 15th with the FA Cup final to follow on May 29th.
