Hurricane Ivan should be an opportunity for the people of Cayman to paint a new picture on a blank canvas.
That was the message from eminent artist LeRoy Clarke who gave Cayfest’s annual distinguished lecture last week.
Mr. Clarke is a master artist from Trinidad who was recently bestowed the honour of national icon by that island’s government.
Addressing a spell-bound audience in the auditorium of the University College of the West Indies, Mr Clarke revealed it was his first visit to Cayman.
‘I can see there has been terrible devastation from the storm but this is an opportunity for the people of Cayman to make a new painting on a blank canvas,’ he said.
And he urged people not to think in terms of financial losses but to find a spiritual and artistic awakening.
