South Sound dock restored

Repairs on South Sound’s public dock were completed last week with the Leader of Government Business, McKeeva Bush, visiting the job site as a Public Works crew put the finishing touches to the project.

‘Cayman’s public docks are part of the critical infrastructure for our watersports industry and we understand their importance to sports tourism, local fisherman and general boating enthusiasts,’ commented Minister Bush in a press release.

The South Sound dock, located in the Cayman Crossing vicinity, was amongst several public docks damaged by Hurricane Ivan’s destructive waves.

Avid fisherman and Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Tourism, Tim Hubbell said, ‘We tried our best to rebuild these docks before the Nor’wester season and I would like to thank Mr. Tennyson (McFarlane), Mr. Tommy Ebanks and the Public Works crew for their efforts not only on rebuilding this dock but also the many others around the island.’

Contractor Tennyson McFarlane was responsible for construction while the Public Works crew provided project management and finishing work.
