Toastmasters back on track

The Grand Cayman chapter of Toastmasters International is back on track, reconvening its regular weekly meetings and welcoming new members.

The club met sporadically after Hurricane Ivan as its meeting venue, Woods Furniture and Design (next to Foster’s Food Fair by the airport), was damaged by the storm, a press release from the club explained.

Its meetings are now held every Thursday at 6pm at the Woods Furniture conference room.

Toastmasters is a worldwide organization which helps people improve their public speaking, communication and leadership skills.

The Grand Cayman club meets for one hour sharp each week. During that time, members give prepared speeches and presentations as well as learn to speak impromptu via table topics. Members also learn how to conduct meetings along with various aspects of proper parliamentary procedures by adhering to the ‘Roberts Rules of Order’ guidelines.
