A number of athletes participated in the celebration of World Athletics Day at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex on Saturday, 7 May. A variety of running, jumping, and throwing events were conducted.
Among the highlights were a personal best by Richard Ibeh in the discus throw as he spun the 1.6 k platter out 153’4 ½’, and also the high jump result of 5’11 ½’ turned by Stephen Tatum of Cayman Brac.
Richard, Stephen, Craig Connor, Darien Montagu, and Kristie Hurlston, all born in 1988-1989, won events, and therefore, are entitled to have their names submitted in a drawing whereby one boy and one girl from North America, Central America, and Caribbean region will be selected to visit the World Youth Track and Field Championships in Marrakesh, Morocco, in July.
