Cayman features at London’s Mansion House

The Cayman Islands Government Office in London continued to forge links with the City of London during the Annual Livery Dinner for the Worshipful Company of Loriners held 26 May at the Mansion House.

The Loriners’ Company is one of the oldest ancient in the City of London, in which it has played an independent role for more than seven centuries, according top a Government Information Services press release.

The company’s members are distinguished in the fields of banking, insurance, law, accountancy and business, and share an interest in the horse and the craft of lorinery, which is the making of bits, bridles, spurs, stirrups and the minor metal items of a horse’s harness.

Today the Loriners’ Company supports such horse-related charities as Riding for the Disabled.

The company also sets standards for the lorinery trade, grants student bursaries and awards and supports the teaching of college-level lorinery. HRH The Princess Royal is a Past Master of the company, according to the release.

Former Governor John Owen is this year’s Master of the Company year and used the dinner, attended by more than 200, to promote Cayman.

Mr. and Mrs. Dilbert attended as special guests of the Master as well as Mr. and Mrs. Ugland. Both the programme for the evening and the Masters address informed guests about Cayman and its hurricane-recovery efforts.

John Owen is current Chairman of The Friends of Cayman, a group of senior individuals with practical experience and strong commercial associations, knowledge and interest in the future of Cayman.

Working closely with Jennifer Dilbert, Friends of Cayman assists in the development of the image and stability of the territory as an attractive investment location, and promote and support Cayman interests in the UK.
