New funds lawyer joins Walkers

Patrick Colegrave has joined the corporate and international finance department at Walkers, where he will work with the investments funds group, continuing to specialise in all aspects of collective investment vehicles.

Mr. Colegrave was admitted as an attorney in Zimbabwe in 1998 and as a solicitor in England and Wales in 1999.

After attending the University of Natal in South Africa, where he obtained two degrees, first in economics and second in law, he trained with a well-known firm in Harare, Zimbabwe.

After training, Mr. Colegrave moved to London, working initially as in-house counsel to two investment-management companies, where he gained significant experience in investment management and custodian agreements both domestically and internationally.

He was involved in providing legal and regulatory advice, and worked on the formation and winding-up of limited partnerships.

Latterly, he was involved in the disposal of a large well-known UK investment-management company to a US-based insurer.

Mr. Colegrave followed this with approximately three years with Linklaters in London, where he was a member of the firm’s investment-management group.

Most recently, Mr. Colegrave has worked at Walkers’ London office, specialising in collective investment vehicles of all types, including private-equity funds.

Angus Foster, head of litigation at Walkers, said that he and his partners were very pleased to have someone of Mr Colegrave’s experience and expertise.
