An official visit to the Cayman Islands Humane Society by Health Minister Anthony Eden netted the shelter a gift of CI$10,000.
The money will be used to help with the shelter’s spay and neuter programme.
Touring the facilities on Tuesday, the minister presented the shelter’s chairman Giuseppe Gatta with a cheque.
Joining him on the final official tour organised under the previous government was Ministry Permanent Secretary Andrea Bryan, and administration staff member Satina DaCosta.
Mr. Eden was shown the shelter’s holding area for cats and dogs, told how the animals were cared for, and learned about the role of shelter staff.

The minister also toured the downstairs thrift shop and upstairs bookstore and met volunteer workers.
