A proposed bill would make it clear how the chain of command worked under emergency circumstances, the Cabinet press briefing was told on Friday.
In answer to a question, Leader of Government Business Kurt Tibbetts said the Cabinet had recently approved a proposed bill for legislative changes to make things clear if a state of emergency had to be declared.
There would be no ambiguity where authority lay, said Mr. Tibbetts.
After the experience of Hurricane Ivan last year the country had learned things and this was one lesson the government had to learn, he said.
Mr. Tibbetts was further asked to comment on there being some uncertainty about things after Hurricane Ivan.
To combat uncertainty the proposed piece of legislation would make it clear how the chain of command worked under such circumstances, he told the briefing.
