The Cayman Islands Red Cross hosted an Ideals in Action training seminar in Cayman Brac last week.
‘It is really important that the Cayman Islands Red Cross is embraced by all of the Cayman Islands, and not just Grand Cayman,’ explains Branch Director Jondo Obi. ‘This is something that has been in the works for a while, and we’re happy that it’s finally coming to fruition.’
The training, which was kicked off by the Leader of Government Business Mr. Kurt Tibbetts, was open to all those residents interested in becoming members of the Red Cross.
‘Ideals in Action teaches the history and the principles of the Red Cross, and helps give an idea of what the movement is about globally as well as locally,’ explains Programmes Manager Carolina Ferreira. ‘This is essentially where prospective members decide whether or not the Red Cross is an organization that they would like to be a part of,’ she adds.
Cayman Airways Express, an affiliate of Cayman Airways, has provided tremendous support to the organization by donating the passes to the Brac.
‘We are so grateful for their generosity,’ said Mrs. Obi. ‘Funding is often the greatest obstacle that we face when attempting to implement programmes or ideas, and without this donation it would’ve been unlikely that we would be able to see this through.’
