The 36-Hours Ivan DVD will be available locally by the week of 26 September.
Proceeds from the sale of the DVD, which will include two additional features showing the recovery since Ivan, will go to the National Recovery Fund.
The 36-Hours feature, a collaborative effort by CITN and the Government Information Services, was aired at a telethon arranged and staged by CITN. The event raised nearly CI$2 million for local recovery from the worst disaster to affect Cayman in modern times.
Speaking to GIS on Monday, Governor Bruce Dinwiddy expressed appreciation to CITN and GIS for the collaborative effort. ‘I am enormously grateful to CITN and the many donors who pledged support at Saturday’s telethon. It was a magnificent achievement to raise $2 million.’
The governor said that this combined community effort would provide a great boost to the National Recovery Fund and its activities. He added, however, that the fund needs at least another $10 million to respond to needs.
‘I hope the community will continue to support the fund through the challenging times ahead,’ he said.
The DVD will sell for $25. It will be available at all major supermarkets and the offices of GIS and the National Recovery Fund in Trinity Square.
