First Fidelity Run

More than 60 participants turned out for the first segment of the Fidelity Fun Run Fall series of 2-mile runs, ranging from pram-pushed 2-year-olds to veterans demonstrating a variety of approaches to the activity. Training partners Marius Acker and Dave Walker led the pack throughout, with Marius kicking home in 10:10, and Dave five seconds back. Shalaina Kelly showed her heels to most of the field, ending up as first lady across the line, and fifth finisher overall, in a time of 12:50.

Mike McDonald took down third-place overall honours, while Marion Pandohie and Sandy Hew gathered second-and third-place plaudits for the ladies. The Westin family appeared in force, and Kathleen topped off her age group. Other winners in various age categories were Ashleigh Nalty, Jorel Bellafonte, Tom Gammage, Eamon McEarlean, Chris Sutton, Roger Davies, Maria Leonce, Mavis Davies, and Indra Boodhu.

The next challenge takes place this Saturday again on Walker’s Road across from John Gray High School. Action starts at 7:30 a.m. with registration for newcomers and checkin for last week’s daredevils beginning at 6:30.

Entry fee is $5 for first-timers for each of the next two events. Refreshments will be provided. Event shirts and awards will be distributed following the completion of the third race.
