CN invests in young leaders

Joanna Morrison, a sixth form student of Cayman Prep and High School, and Francesca Hamann, a senior at the John Gray High School, were among the local students who were selected to participate in the Global Young Leaders Conference during the summer.

The conference, which was held in Washington, DC and New York City, is a unique leadership development program for secondary school students from across the globe who have demonstrated leadership potential, said a press release from Cayman National.

‘Cayman National is pleased to be involved in making this experience a reality for these young ladies,’ said, Claudia Welds, Senior Executive, Corporate Communications of Cayman National.

‘The Global Young Leaders Conference provided students like Joanna and Francesca with a distinctive opportunity to team up with students from around the world to study and resolve global conflict, and a forum where ideas and points of view are shared on such issues as politics, finance, human rights and global warming.’

According to Joanna Morrison the conference provided the opportunity to all participants to build their confidence and ability to lead.

‘Something I will never forget is the way in which we were given the opportunity to make new friends from around the world,’ she said in the release. ‘The debates and discussions were all very stimulating and provided a forum to address very challenging issues. I have to thank Cayman National because without their generous donation I would not have been able to experience this superb conference.’

Francisca Hamann’s two-week experience at the conference afforded her both an educational and recreational opportunity. ‘I was able to meet people from all over the world and listen to speakers with very important messages about issues facing the world today and tomorrow,’ she said.

‘I was able to take in some sites and learn new and exciting things. I am grateful to have been able to attend this conference and would like to extend a big thank you to Cayman National for their support and sponsorship, especially Ms. Claudia Welds for all of her help.’

According to Ms. Welds, ‘an investment in these students ensures a bright future for the people of these islands and demonstrates Cayman National’s continued commitment to putting its people first.’
