Predator tank shapes up

The construction of the Predator Tank – one of the major features at Boatswain’s Beach – is now one step closer with the installation of three gigantic acrylic panels that form the viewing area to the tank.

The acrylic panels, each weighing 5,279 lbs, were lowered by crane into concrete frames on Friday, with the complete installation and permanent seal expected to be completed by Wednesday, said a press release.

The panels measure 7 x 27 feet and are 4 inches thick. The Predator Tank – home to sharks, eels, barracuda and other large fish – will be viewed through these panels from both the fresh water Breakers Pool and the salt water Boatswain’s Snorkel Lagoon, as well as from land for those not wishing to get their feet wet.

Mr Ken Hydes, Managing Director of Boatswain’s Beach, said he was thrilled to see another major milestone take place in the construction of the new tourist attraction. ‘The Predator Tank will be one of the key attractions of the park and we’re excited to see our vision on its way to becoming a reality.’
