The first long distance swim on the Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association’s (‘CIASA’) Open Water Calendar is set for this Saturday, the 8th of October with the demanding CIASA 2-mile sea swim.
The CIASA 2-mile sea swim will start at 8:00am at the beach across from the Courtyard Marriott.
Registration will be held at the Courtyard Marriott beach from 7:00am – 7:45am.
The course will be a 2-mile loop, with swimmers making their way south for 1 mile and turn north at a buoy located in the vicinity of the Ritz Carlton, finishing back at the Courtyard Marriott.
Given the long distance of the swim, the CIASA 2-mile sea swim is intended to provide a personal challenge for Cayman’s more experienced swimmers. As such, swimmers under the age of 12 will require explicit approval from both their parents and their swim coach to participate in the race, and a 2 hr time limit for completion will be in effect for all swimmers.
The CIASA 2-mile event will be a celebration of open water swimming in the Cayman Islands. CIASA’s President, Ms. Laurice Fraser, will be on hand to award the top three finishers in each age group with gold, silver and bronze cast medals featuring the CIASA logo.
All swimmers will be required to wear white CIASA swim caps while in the water, and will receive a T-shirt and breakfast after the race.
