A revolutionary product – the very latest in hurricane protection – is now available in Cayman.
The Storm Catcher hurricane wind abatement system is said to be the strongest, most versatile storm system to ever become available.
It uses a lightweight geo-synthetic fabric to protect buildings from hurricane force winds and flying debris.
Caymanian Charmaine Robinson, who has brought Storm Catcher here, explains how she first got the idea after, like so many other people, having to board up with plywood when Hurricane Ivan struck last year.
‘I wanted something I could see out of and that I could put up easily and store easily,’ she says.
Her research led her to the innovative US product which had been tested in hurricane conditions and can withstand winds up to 165+mph.
Storm Catcher screens are said to have passed the Dade County large missile impact test which would damage other products to the point of repair or replacement.
The screens are light and easy to install and, unlike metal barriers, allow easy escape from your home in an emergency.
They allow light in so you can see outside and are said to block 97 per cent of wind and rain.
‘They are easy to fit, easy to use and perfect for apartments where there is not much space for storage,’ says Ms. Robinson.
‘When I ordered the system for myself I had the idea that others here could possibly benefit from having it installed too. I decided to form a company and I am now the sole distributor of this product,’ she adds.
‘It’s long lasting, durable and good value for money,’ says Ms Robinson who adds that she already has an order from a hotel here as well as from several home owners.
