Hats off to creativity

Women of the International Ladies Club were right in style when they hosted a hat competition at the Icoa Café and Bakery last Saturday.

In a lively party, ladies sipped tea, enjoyed plates filled with dainty treats and admired one another’s hats.

All were required to wear a hat and everyone’s creativity was inspiring.

The ladies said they had a very good time and the tea, sandwiches and cakes were delicious.

All were wearing hats, from wide-brimmed straw boaters bedecked with pink, yellow, red or white flowers to a paper head-topper sporting the Caymanian Compass 40th celebrations.

The lucky winner was Maryke Jenkins wearing a straw hat decorated with freshly cut hibiscus flowers.

The colourful display of hats and the women who wear them is just one of the many happenings of the International Ladies Club.

The 200 members of this energetic group gather regularly for monthly luncheons, tea parties, excursions, walks, activities such as sailing, kayaking, pottery, art and cooking classes and much more.

For all, it is an incredible network, a chance to escape for a few hours, to bond while meeting others and a chance to get out and dress up.

The club meets for a monthly coffee meeting the first Thursday of the month. For more information on this group interested persons may contact Jan Arcbold on 943-6556.
