The 2005 Christmas stamp issue is now on sale at post offices throughout the Islands.
The issue has four stamps that form part of a souvenir sheet depicting the story of Christ’s birth. The stamps are available in the denominations of 15, 30, 40 and 60 cents.
‘The Post Office is delighted to release a Christmas stamp issue this year,’ said Postmaster General, Sheena Glasgow. ‘We did not release a stamp issue last Christmas, and we were pleasantly surprised by the public disappointment that we had. It reinforced for us, just how popular these stamps are.’
Angels sent from the Lord shine on the 15-cent Christmas stamp while the Three Wise Men present their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh on the 30-cent stamp. The newly appointed parents, Mary and Joseph, admire their newborn on the 40-cent stamp. And the Shepard’s, who were tending to their sheep in the hills, appear on the 60-cent stamp.
Each design was carefully crafted to fit, using pencil, crayon and watercolours, making them collectors’ musts.
In conjunction with the post offices, the issue is also available at the Philatelic Bureau, Seven Mile Beach Post Office, Grand Cayman. For further details contact the bureau by telephone at (345) 946-4757 or email to [email protected].
