The success of the Counselling Centre’s couples September workshop, ‘Fighting for Your Marriage,’ has prompted the Department of Counselling Services to host another short course.
‘The response to the workshop was overwhelming and we had to turn people away. We also received a great deal of positive feedback from couples after the workshop. We therefore decided to offer the same workshop again this year,’ said the Counselling Centre’s family therapist Susan Schlosser.
If you want to learn how to avoid the pitfalls and learn to deepen and maintain love for a lifetime, register for ‘Fighting for Your Marriage.’ The workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, 23 November between 6 and 8.30 pm and Saturday, 26 November from 9m to 2.30 pm. The cost is CI$50 per couple and includes lunch and materials. Early registration is required and space is limited so please register in person at the Counselling Centre, West Wind Building, 3rd Floor, North Church Street or call 949-8789 for additional information.
‘The workshop is for couples who are married or in a committed relationship and who want to make their partnership the best it can be,’ said Ms Schlosser. ‘It is based on the PREP (Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program) approach which is a comprehensive and well-respected divorce prevention/marriage strengthening program.’
Some of the topics covered in the two-day workshop are: Talking without Fighting; Solving Problems as A Team; Keeping Fun Flowing; Sensual/Sexual Relationship; Foundations for Friendship, and Commitment.
‘For the second workshop we are limiting the participants to just nine couples so we can give them very individualized attention while they work on assignments together,’ Ms Schlosser said.
