The Health Services Authority is offering an eight-week session of classes covering a range of topics to help expectant parents prepare for the arrival of their baby.
Parentcraft classes will be held Mondays from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at the Women’s Health Centre. Among the topics are nutrition, dental care, labour, delivery and pain relief, alternate methods of delivery, breathing exercises, infant feeding and post-natal care for mother and infant.
The Parentcraft class schedule for 2006 can be picked up at the Women’s Health Centre, all District Health Centres and the offices of private obstetricians.
Classes are free and no pre-registration is necessary. Expectant mothers and a partner or friend can attend any of the sessions in the series of classes.
A tour of the maternity ward is also offered.
Clients are encouraged to attend classes as early as 16 to 20 weeks of pregnancy in order to be well informed before delivery.
